Frequently Ask Questions
Vision Fence Issues
We recommend that the width of the mowing area be greater than 1m. This is because VisionFence considers narrow areas to be more risky, and collisions or falls may occur, so it is impossible to move forward.
If you are sure the area is free from collisions or falls, perform the following steps:
1. Adjust the map slightly to expand the width of the narrow area from this menu: Setting – map management – edit map
2. Use the VisionFence-off zone feature to set the narrow area as a VisionFence-off zone. Go to Setting – map management – add more – VisionFence off zone.
Note: To set up a VisionFence-off zone, please make sure both the firmware and the app are in V1.4.0 or later versions.
When the light on the mower flashes yellow or blue, it means that the positioning quality is not good at this time, thus Navimow will adopt a more conservative obstacle avoidance strategy near the boundary:
a) When the mower is mowing along the edge, in order to ensure that it does not hit any obstacles near the boundary, the mower may skip a small part of the area, especially areas around the corner. Often, these areas may be covered in the next mowing task.
b) When the mower is performing a planned cut, in order to ensure safety and efficiency, if it encounters any obstacle near the boundary, the mower will turn around and go to the next planned mowing route. Therefore, in narrow lawn areas, there may be more uncut areas. Every time the mower completes a mowing task, it will change its direction randomly. The part that has not been mowed this time will be mowed in the next several mowings. If you think those areas are safe even when the GPS signal is bad, you can use the VisionFence-off zone feature to set this area as a VisionFence-off zone. Go to Setting – map management – add more – VisionFence off zone.
The VisionFence has a good two-dimensional visual recognition ability. Through a large amount of data training, it can distinguish the grass from various objects on the lawn, so as to avoid hitting these objects.
Since most channels are not lawns, but stone roads, cement roads, black soil, etc., VisionFence cannot recognize obstacles on this ground. Therefore, on the channels, the VisionFence is turned off, and only the bumper is used for obstacle avoidance.
VisionFence is not like the human eye with stereo vision, it is a single camera with two-dimensional visual recognition ability. For objects elevated on the ground (e.g., bench chair), the VisionFence may think that they are far away from itself on the surface, and will not trigger obstacle avoidance, so it may hit these objects. For elevated obstacles and larger obstacles, it is recommended to create an off-limit island for higher mowing efficiency and a better experience.
When the satellite signal reception is great (the mower displays a solid blue light), VisionFence will be automatically disabled during edge cutting or planned cuts near the boundary.
The logic of VisionFence being disabled is to achieve an ideal edge-cutting result. Since if VisionFence is functioning during edge cutting, it may detect real boundaries as obstacles and guide the mower to move away from them. Therefore, causing some grass on the boundary remains uncut.
If the collision is on a boundary, you may have drawn the mower too close to the boundary when creating the map boundary.
If the map is too close to the boundary, even if the positioning signal is good, the positioning may deviate within 20 cm, so it might hit an obstacle on the edge. To solve this problem, you can slightly adjust the boundary. Go to Setting – Map management – Edit map.
VisionFence option is only available in the latest version of the Robotic Mowers app. To troubleshoot the issue, please keep the Robotic Mowers APP version higher than v 1.3.6. Please visit your app store to update the Robotic Mowers app.
When the firmware version of your mower is outdated, it will fail to recognize the VisionFence you installed on the mower.
To troubleshoot the issue, please keep the firmware and APP version higher than v 1.3.6.
If you have a gravel path/slate path inside your lawn. Then there is a chance that VisionFence’s obstacle avoidance will be triggered, preventing the mower from passing through.
After upgrading both the mower firmware and the app to V1.4.0, you can now set up areas to be ignored by the VisionFence Sensor. If you need to exclude certain areas from being avoided by the mower, for example, stone roads with grass in between, you can set up a VisionFence-off zone. In the VisionFence-off zone, the VisionFence detection is off and the bumper is used to avoid obstacles.
To set up a VisonFence-off zone, go to Setting – Map management – Edit map – add more – VisionFence-off zone.
To troubleshoot the issue, please keep the firmware and APP version higher than v 1.3.6.
The VisionFence currently may not be able to recognize obstacles that are too small (less than 10cm in length and width), too thin, tilted, dangling, or easily confused with lawn. For example wire fences, chairs, moss, ornamental grass, bushes, dirt, roots, leaves, etc. Therefore, please set up off-limit islands for these obstacles.
In addition, when the mower starts mowing, it will plan the most efficient mowing path based on the boundaries and off-limit islands, and bypassing the off-limit islands directly. If you haven’t set up an off-limit island for large static obstacles, the mower will repeatedly avoid them every time it passes, significantly reducing the mowing efficiency.
When the mower works in certain areas with poor satellite signals, it will rely on VisionFence’s obstacle avoidance feature to complete the job. During this period, the mower will not record the progress of mowing, but it does not mean that the mower stops mowing. The mower will still mow in the poor signal area and resume the recording of mowing progress when the satellite signal returns to normal.
Please make sure that VisionFence is connected to a stable and accessible Wi-Fi network when upgrading the firmware version. If a stable Wi-Fi network is unavailable, please try again with a mobile phone hotspot (make sure the hotspot’s maximum compatibility is turned on).
Note: VisionFence requires a separate OTA update to 0.0.2.A for new features and bug fixes. Go to Settings-Mower-VisionFence Sensor-Network config, connect to a strong Wi-Fi, and wait 1 h. You can bring the mower alone indoors near the router for a better signal.
Device Issues
This is normal. The blades can rotate freely after being attached to the blade disc. When mowing the spinning blade disc will generate centrifugal force to keep the blades pointing outside so that the blades can cut grass. When hitting an obstacle, the blade will turn inside.
For your safety, please refer to the User Manual to replace the blades.
- Check whether or not the tyre is covered by a lot of mud, grass clippings, etc. Check whether there are any foreign items stuck between the tyre and fender; check whether or not there is any foreign item that wraps around the motor shaft. Clean the tyre and its attachment if necessary.
- Check whether or not the wheel is stuck in soft ground, such as sand, gravel, etc, or deep ditches. If this is the cause, you can set the soft ground as off-limit islands in the app or fill in the ditches to make the surface even and flat.
- If the wheel is damaged, contact your dealer for after-sales service.
Use a soft brush or cloth to clean the exterior of the mower thoroughly. DO NOT clean with alcohol, gasoline, acetone, or other corrosive/volatile solvents. These substances may damage the appearance and internal structure of your mower.
For proper docking, periodically inspect and clean the charging station from debris and mud. Make sure all connecting parts of the charging station, the extension cable, and the power supply are not blocked.
Chassis and blade disc
If the chassis and blade disc are dirty, use a brush or a water hose to clean. DO NOT use a high-pressure washer. At the same time, make sure that the blade disc rotates freely and the blades can pivot freely.
CAUTION: High-pressure water can leak into the sealings and damage electronic and mechanical parts.
Wheels
Grass on the wheels can affect how the mower performs when climbing slopes. Remove mud or other items stuck in between to ensure a strong grip.
Rain sensor
Check once a week and make sure the rain sensor is not covered by mud, grass or other objects. You can either wash it or clean it
with a soft brush. After cleaning, dry the sensor area to prevent it from being triggered as in the rain.
WARNING
Before cleaning, make sure the mower is powered off.
When the mower is upside down, it must be powered off.
- Check whether or not the wheel is stuck in soft ground, such as sand, gravel, etc, or deep ditches. If this is the cause, you can set the soft ground as off-limit islands in the app or fill in the ditches to make the surface even and flat.

- Check whether the battery of the vehicle is dead or over-discharged. It is recommended to manually charge it in the charging station. Try to switch it on after charging.
- Contact your dealer for after-sales service if it still cannot be switched on after charging.
- When mowing the lawn the maximum noise level of Navimow H-Series is 54dB(A). This level only equals the decibel level of an electric toothbrush. The mower will not bother your neighbors when using it during the night.
Robotic Mower mower can mow the areas with slopes no steeper than the maximum incline inside the working area (45%), as well as the boundary (10%).
Waterproof rating of the mower : IP66.
Waterproof rating of charging station and adapter: IP55.
The mower can be used in rain. But in order to achieve the best mowing results, it is recommended not to mow in the rain. Mowing in the rain can make the grass stick on the product and the mower may slip. Do not mow in bad weather, such as heavy rain, thunderstorm or snow.
The whole series of Robotic Mowers use 50mm off-road rubber tires, which are more suitable for grass and can easily deal with complex gardens. The tires are solid rubber tires and do not need to be inflated.

Possible cause
You didn’t log in to the account that binds with your mower. Account association and data sharing are not currently supported. It means that if a user has both an email account and a phone account, he cannot use his email to log in to his phone account and access the data stored on his phone account, and vice versa. So when a user logs in to an account that is not bound with the mower by mistake and does not realize that, they may wrongly think that the previous mower data has disappeared.
Troubleshooting guide
1.log out of the current account and log in to the one that binds with your mower.
- Check the app. Make sure you are using Navimow app but not Segway-ninebot app.
- Check if the Bluetooth connection of your phone is open or not. If it is on, please check if the serial number of the mower is shown under “My device”, “Available device” or “More device”. The format of the serial number is S2RXXXXXXX.
- Check if you have opened the access permission of Bluetooth and Location for Navimow app. To open the permission, go to Settings on your smartphone.
- For iOS, scroll down the app list to find Navimow. Tap Navimow app to open the access permission of Bluetooth and Location.
- For Android, please refer to “Change app permissions on your Android phone“.
Currently no.
If you want to bind the mower to another account, unbind the mower first. Go to Settings>MOWER> Unbind device.
If the mower is currently bound to another account, a notification will pop up and notify you of the bounded account. This setting is to protect your device from abnormal use, e.g. stolen or setup being changed by other people.
In V1.4.0 or later app versions, you can choose whether to clear the mower data when unbinding.
If you want to use a different account to bind the mower, you can choose to keep the data, and the newly bound account can continue to use the maps and other settings that have been created for the mower.
If you no longer use this mower, you can choose to clear the data. All data will be cleared, and the newly bound users will not see any of your data.
We update the features and firmware for the mower from time to time. To get a better user experience and optimized performance, it is recommended to update your firmware regularly.
Usually, when new firmware is available, there will be a pop-up notification in the APP after you activate the mower and keep the network connected. Please follow the guidance shown on the pop-up window to complete the upgrade.
You can always check for updates manually in the app, go to Settings>MOWER>Device management>Firmware version.
It will take 10-15 minutes to successfully upgrade the firmware.
During the upgrading process, do not power off the device or run other operations. Once the upgrading is successful you will receive a pop-up notification.
To successfully complete the update, please ensure that:
- The mower is in the charging station.
- The mower is connected to a network and the signal is strong (through 4G or Wi-Fi).
- The battery power is more than 20%.
- No mowing schedule in the next hour.
If you match the conditions above when preparing for the firmware update but you still cannot fulfil the update please contact the after-sales services to consult.
Yes, you can bind multiple mowers to one account. Open the app, go to Settings>MOWER>Switch/Add device to add another mower.
We recommend you keep a distance within 6 m to ensure a stable Bluetooth connection.
If the distance is too far, the remote control may delay, and you may not be able to accurately control the mower when drawing the map. If the distance is more than 6 m, a pop-up window will show in the app.
Only one mower is allowed to run in a map.
The Robotic Mowers engineers always update the functions and firmware. In order to get a better user experience and optimized functions, it is recommended to regularly check and update your firmware.
Battery and Charging Issues
Usually, the battery ages after a long period of use, and the working hour gets shortened. You can contact your dealer and have the battery replaced to resume the previous working hour. Besides, the working hour of Navimow can get shortened when running on a lawn with complex conditions, such as long grass, complicated layout, etc. In this case, to reach the ideal working hour, you can mow the long grass with other mowing tools first and if possible, adjust the garden layout to a simpler one.
Once your mower neither shows any light effects nor powers on when connected to a working charging station, this indicates that the mower may be experiencing a charging fault.
The followings are the possible causes and corresponding troubleshooting guide. Please kindly check.
Possible cause 1
short circuit
Troubleshooting guide
Once a short circuit has occurred, you can no longer charge your mower, and if your mower fails to be recharged, alongside some other anomalies. Then it is very likely that a short circuit has occurred. To troubleshoot this problem, please contact your dealer for after-sales service.
Possible cause 2
The environment temperature is too high or too low for Navimow to charge
Troubleshooting guide
When the environment temperature is above 40℃ (104°F) or below 5℃ (41°F) mower may fail to charge. To troubleshoot this issue, please take your Navimow to an environment where the temperature is within 5℃~ 40℃.
- The battery has a built-in temperature protection feature. Temperature protection will be activated at 0°C (32°F)/50°C (122°F), and the battery won’t be charged unless the temperature reaches 5℃ (41°F) or above/reduces to 40℃ (104°F) or below.
- Check whether or not the charging station is connected to a power supply. If not, insert the power plug into a suitable power outlet.
- Check if the contact strip is clean. If not, clean it so that the contact strips on the mower and charging station can connect well.
Robotic Mower H-Series uses Lithium battery. This battery has a lifespan of more than 500 cycles. It can still retain more than 70% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles.
When pushed into the charging station, the charging strip on the mower will firmly contact the contact strip on the charging station. Therefore the battery can get electricity input from the charging station until the battery is fully charged.
The battery life depends on how often the product is used and the total working hours. Along with the frequent usage and use of a longer period of time, the battery will last less. It is normal.
The battery can still retain more than 70% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. If the operation time is significantly shorter than usual after full charge or the lawn is not well mowed, contact the after-sales service to replace the battery.
Mowing Issues
Possible cause
Temporary poor positioning signal, or incorrect positioning of the GNSS antenna.
Troubleshooting guide
If it happens occasionally, it may be that the positioning signal is unstable. You can manually put the mower back onto the charging station.
If it happens frequently, then it is possible that your antenna or charging station is placed in the wrong place where the positioning signal is poor. Move the charging station to a more suitable place. You need to remap the whole boundary after relocating the charging station.
If the error persists after following the troubleshooting guide above, please don’t hesitate to contact us for further diagnosis or your dealer for after-sales service.
Starting from V1.4, restarting the mower will not reset the mowing progress. But when you edit the map, the mowing progress will be reset. For example, you adjusted the map, or edited the VF off zone.
Robotic Mower must re-plan the path when it is restarted or reaches 100% of the mowing progress. As a result, there will be a waiting time of several seconds to start mowing, and the duration depends on the size and complexity of your map.
Possible Causes:
1. The Bladehalt sensor is triggered frequently.
2. Satellite signal is weak in some work areas. When the VisionFence is not installed or the VisionFence is turned off, and if the satellite signal is weak for more than one minute, Navimow will return to the charging station.
3. The mower does not cut when going back to the charging station, when going to the starting point of a boundary, or when the mower passes through the channel to the next area. This is normal and the mower will only cut on the planned cutting path.
4. Cutting motor over-current protection
5. Foreign object is stuck in the blade disc.
Solutions:
1. If the Bladehalt sensor is on, please turn it off, and then restart the mower.
2. This is normal. If the signal is recovered in this process, Navimow will come back and continue mowing.
3. Normal
4. When the grass is too thick, the cutting motor will automatically enter self-protection and stop rotating when the current is too high. At this time, it is recommended to increase the mowing height or use other mowing tools to trim the lawn to 6 cm or lower first.
5. Please confirm whether there is any foreign object stuck in the blade disc or blades, if any, please clean it in time.
Usually, it is because of inaccurate location due to weak satellite signal reception.
Please refer to the Signal check in the app for recommendations:
How do I check the satellite signal after setting a map? What should I do if the signal is weak?
If the method above cannot solve your problem, please contact our after-sales service.
Current mowing efficiency or battery run time is a test result tested in a square, flat place with no obstacles. Actual performance might vary due to:
- The actual condition of your lawn (slop, bump, or multiple channels to connect different boundaries).
- Frequent direction changes in a complex map.
- Battery maximum capacity will drop as it ages, contributing to a performance drop.
Possible causes:
- Rain sensor triggered
- Battery low
- Out of the scheduled mowing hour
If you have the VisionFence installed, the night mowing switch is off by default. The mower will stop mowing and automatically go back to the charging station after nightfall.
- Weak Satellite signal ( blinking yellow mower light) when the VisionFence is not installed or the VisionFence is turned off.
Solutions:
1, 2 & 3. This is normal.
4. If you prefer to mow at night, you can enable night mowing. We do not recommend mowing at night, because there might be some dew causing the grass to be wet and slippery. Mowing the grass at night is also not helpful to the overall health of the lawn. Mowing at night will also affect the activities of small animals, and even hurt them.
5. Please refer to How do I check the satellite signal after setting a map? What should I do if the signal is weak?
- The actual condition of your lawn (slop, bump, or multiple channels to connect different boundaries).
- Frequent direction changes in a complex map.
- Battery maximum capacity will drop as it ages, contributing to a performance drop.
Possible Causes:
- Inaccurate positioning
- Obstacle avoidance
- Tall grass
- Mower got stuck in the uncut area and reports error code 6017
Solutions:
1. The mower’s moving path depends on satellite positioning, occasionally inaccurate positioning may lead to missed cuts, and the missed area will be covered after a few more cuts.
2. If an obstacle is encountered during mowing, the mower will avoid the obstacle, which can result in certain areas not being cut. This is normal and a new feature will be added to make the mower cut the missed area with obstacles again.
3. If the grass is higher than 15cm, the ultrasonic sensor will be triggered and the mower will avoid areas with tall grass.
4. The area where the 6017 error code has been reported will automatically generate an elliptical rectangle with a radius of 0.5m (two sides are straight lines and two sides are arcs), and the mower will not mow in these areas within a certain period of time (7 days within the border, 14 days near the border). For a better mowing experience, it is recommended to clean these areas before the next mowing, such as clearing obstacles, filling holes to make the area flat and passable, or trimming tall grass, etc.
Possible Causes:
- Cutting motor over-current protection
- Foreign objects
- Obstacle avoidance
- The mower does not cut when going back to the charging station, or when going to the starting point of the mowing session. This is normal and the mower will only cut on the planned cutting path.
Solutions:
- When the grass is too thick, the cutting motor will automatically enter self-protection and stop rotating when the current is too high. At this time, it is recommended to increase the mowing height, or use other mowing tools to trim the lawn to 6 cm or lower first.
- Please confirm whether there is any foreign object stuck in the blade disc or blades, if any, please clean it in time.
- When the mower is avoiding an obstacle, the bump sensor will shut down the blades temporarily. When this protection mechanism is finished, the blades will continue rotating.
- Normal
Possible Causes:
- If you started manual mowing mode before, the mower would keep working until 100% of the mowing task is completed. When the battery level is lower than 10%, the mower will return to the charging station. When the battery is charged to 85%, the mower will resume the previous mowing task automatically. When the mowing task is completed (100%), the mower will exit the manual mowing mode.
- If you have set a mowing schedule (and you didn’t start manual mowing before), the mower will automatically start the mowing task according to the schedule. When the battery level is lower than 10%, the mower will return to the charging station. When the battery is charged to 85%, the mower will resume the previous mowing task automatically until the mowing task is completed (100%).
- When the rain sensor is triggered, the mower will stop the task and return to the charging station. After the water on the rain sensor is dry, it will automatically continue until the mowing task is finished. However, the mower will not resume mowing if it’s past the scheduled time.
Solutions:
All three conditions are expected.
Cause:
There are obstacles in that area
Solution:
This is normal. The mower will automatically adjust its moving pattern around obstacles. However, it is still recommended to remove excess clutter before mowing. You can also set up an off-limit area for obstacles.
Possible causes:
- The STOP button is pressed down or jammed, and the mower cannot start automatically
- Low battery
- Water on the rain sensor
Solutions:
- Make sure the STOP button is completely released. Turn off the mower and check if any foreign object is stuck in the STOP button. If yes, remove the object and try mowing again.
- Charge the mower battery to ≥85%.
- If the rain sensor is triggered, the mower cannot start working. Wait for the water to dry up.
Please don’t worry about the mower starting mowing unevenly or patchily. It is a minor issue caused by inappropriate use or maintenance during daily use. To get the desired mowing experience, please refer to the following possible causes and conducts the corresponding troubleshooting guide.
Possible cause 1
The preset mowing schedule is not sufficient
Troubleshooting guide:
Adjust the mowing time according to the size of the mowing area. Ensure that there is sufficient time for the mower to complete its task.
Possible cause 2
The blades are blunt
Troubleshooting guide:
Replace the blades.
Safety warning*
- Sharp blades, please wear heavy gloves when you replace the blades.
Possible cause 3
The grass is too high
Troubleshooting guide
Set the cutting height to a higher level and then lower it to the desired height gradually.
Possible cause 4
The blades cannot pivot normally
Troubleshooting guide
Clean the blade disk and blades.
Safety warning*
- Sharp blades, please wear heavy gloves when you replace the blades.
If the mower keeps mowing unevenly or patchily after following the troubleshooting guide above, please contact us for further diagnosis or contact your dealer for after-sales service.
- If the tyre is covered by a lot of mud or grass clippings, it could lost its traction. Clean the tyre.
- Check if the mowing boundary is set on a slope. If so, adjust the boundary, make sure the slope along the boundary does not exceed 10%.
- Check if the charging station or antenna is covered or blocked. If so, remove all obstacles covering, blocking or surrounding the charging station or GNSS antenna.
- Check if there any item blocking the surface of the mower. Remove the obstacle.

Can’t pass the channel
Please make sure that there are no obstacles near the channel and the charging station, press the STOP button to clear the error code, and try to start mowing or returning it to the charging station again. If you still cannot pass through the channel, please confirm whether the positioning quality is abnormal.
Error code 6021 means that the mower fails to reach its destination.
To resolve this issue, please check the following information:
1. Is there a non-grass area on the way to the destination? Such as a barren area with almost no grass at all, or stone roads with some grass in between.
2. Are there any obstacles blocking the way to the destination?
3. Is the charging station installed in a hard-to-find place? Under the shade, or in the bush?
If your answer is yes to 1, we recommend setting those areas as the VisionFence-off zones.
For 2, remove the obstacles.
For 3, you need to move the charging station to an open area.
If your answers are no to the cases above, the error could be caused by an abnormal positioning signal in a narrow path or the VisionFence surface being stained. Please adjust the map to avoid places with poor signal for the former, and clean the surface for the latter.
The mower starts outside the boundary.
Please reposition the mower within the boundary, press STOP to clear the error code, and try to start mowing again or return it to the charging station.
Some components of mowing modules need a period of break-in while in their factory condition. This is normal and please follow the procedure below when you see error code 1018:
Lift the rear wheels of the lawn mower to a height of 10~15 centimeters from the ground, then release it, let the mower land freely. Then press the STOP button to clear the error code.
Note:
1. Please do not lift the mower rear wheels before pulling out the mowing from charging station completely.
2. If the you have done the suggested operation, but the error code 1018 still cannot be cleared, please contact us with your serial number.
Error code 7006 means localization recovery error. The followings are the possible cause and corresponding troubleshooting guide. Please kindly check.
Possible Cause
Weak satellite signal reception due to the location of the antenna is not ideal.
Troubleshooting guide
1. Please install the antenna in a more ideal location according to our recommendation and then rebuild a map. If the 7006 error no longer triggers after relocating the antenna, it illustrates that the problem has been solved.
(Reference article: https://navimow.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/articles/5957355594265-What-is-an-ideal-location-to-install-the-charging-station-and-GNSS-antenna-)
